Do geologists have ‘favourite periods’ in het history of Earth? If we were one, we wouldn’t pick the Cretaceous or Jurassic, nor the Carboniferous or anything else we’ve covered. We’d pick a darker, even deeper era – we’d pick this: the Devonian!
